Today a group of women led by the League of Women Law tried something similar this morning around 7:30 on a replica of the Parisian Statue of Liberty.
For the record it is a kind of loop is thus closed: the almost the same women, forty years ago, sounded the debut of the MLF with the founding act of filing a wreath to the wife of the Unknown Soldier, August 26, 1970. On their banners that read at the time: "There are more unknown than the unknown soldier, his wife" , and Monique Wittig was a banner: "A man is a woman" .
Forty years later, feminists have found an additional topic of outrage. We can not say enough about how the wearing of the burka, as the other held "Islamically correct" are like kicks in the belly of these women who, like Monique Wittig, Anne Zelensky, Antoinette Fouque or Annie Sugier sometimes sacrificed their personal lives, their professional success to the cause of liberation and dignity of women in France. This coup was simmered for quite a while but ran into a set of technical difficulties. Originally they were two stunt that should climb to the top of the basement, then using ropes attached to the top of the sheet remained at the foot of the statue, pull the bottom upward. For reasons still obscure waterfalls withdrew, so the chosen solution was to ask a wide (8 m!) To climb with the sheet wound, to fix the top and let it unfold from the top down. Alas, the scale has been be stowed as the tarps were they finally fixed on the Pont de Grenelle.

We, women and men today, claiming the legacy of the pioneers of feminism, voilons the Statue of Liberty to express how the presence of Islamic headscarves in public, whatever its size, shape or color, is inconsistent with freedom and secularism in our society. Symbol of sexual segregation, submission and seclusion of women, the hijab is the negation.
Deny the Islamic veil:
- is refusing to swear allegiance to the worst dictatorships, and show our solidarity with the heroic struggle of women in Iran, Algeria, in Afghanistan, ... and in all latitudes, dare defy taboos and fight for a joint enterprise, egalitarian, democratic and secular
- is also heard and bring the voice of the Algerian Djemila Benhabib when we said
"There is nothing in my culture that I am predestined to be overshadowed by a shroud, an emblem of conspicuous difference."
